To Promote a Malaysia that is
United in its Diversity

Yayasan 1Malaysia has come a long way since it was established in July 2009 as a non-partisan, independent, and non-profit foundation to spearheading national unity in Malaysia. Y1M made this decision mainly because of the negative connotation associated with the name ‘1Malaysia’ in the wake of the 1MDB scandal. Public perceptions had developed in such a way that our work as an organisation dedicated to national unity was adversely affected, though Y1M and 1MDB are totally different entities without any link whatsoever. I often joked that Y1M was about dreams while 1MDB was about debts.

Yayasan Perpaduan Malaysia in Action

We believe in working towards national unity while promoting cultural diversity as a collective strength that can benefit all Malaysians. Here are some of the many activities we have conducted in past years towards that ONE goal.

Members of Yayasan Perpaduan Malaysia

We welcome you to join us in promoting national unity

“One of the monumental challenges facing the nation is the evolution of a shared Malaysian identity that all ethnic communities are comfortable with. It has to be an identity that transcends specific ethnic identities, and yet celebrates our tremendous ethnic diversity. No community should feel threatened by such an all-encompassing notional identity.” – Dr. Chandra Muzaffar.
